Snot!

Ready to get up at silly o'clock, glug some coffee and sprint barefoot out into the freezing cold, I got out of bed... and felt awful!

There seems to be a horrible bug going around. There seem to be two versions.

For women it's a streaming nose and a burning throat with loss of voice combined with stomach pains and sickness.

For men, it's a streaming nose and a burning throat with loss of voice combined with kidney pain like someone has just run up and kicked you in the back with size 12 steel toe capped boots.

This past week has not been fun. But thankfully I'm over the worst of it.

I'm wondering if I should rename my KeepFitBlog to "Illness & Injury Blog" as it would be a far more accurate representation about what this blog has ended up being about.

Slow Progress

Due to work, life and eBay I haven't been out for that run yet. Poor show indeed.

However, I have been barefoot walking a heck of a lot and despite the cold, so long as my upper body is nice and warm, my feet don't mind being exposed in Vibram Five Fingers Classics. The Flows and KSOs weren't very insulating anyway. Although I did suggest a warm, waterproof model to the UK distributor of VFFs.

Anyway, I digress. I need to make time, so I'll be getting up at the crack of down, glugging some hot, strong coffee and heading out the door in a hoody, hat, shorts and Vibrams first thing tomorrow morning.

I'll let you know how it goes :)

Vibram Five Fingers To Your Door!

This week I did a door to door visit with a box of Vibram Five Fingers for my chiropractor. Since getting my back adjusted some more on Monday, we continued our discussion about barefoot running and the shoes available. She wanted a pair and so I brought a box full for her to try on.

Sizing is sometimes an issue due to toe length and foot width, so I brought 3 sizes of Vibram Five Fingers Classic in black, 3 sizes of Vibram Five Fingers Bikila and a single pair of Vivo Barefoot Evo running shoes.

The old salesman charm really kicked in and it made me realise how much I miss selling face to face on the shop floor. It was even better being able to talk about products I have a passion for!

Anyway, she didn't like the Vivo Barefoot, liked the VFF Classic and LOVED the VFF Bikila. So naturally I talked her into buying the top of the range Bikila!

Although I had to laugh when she used my favourite phrase for recommending Vibram over Vivo "What's the point of going barefoot if you can't wiggle your toes?"

The important news is that I've been given the all clear for barefoot running, so I'd better give Grant a call before the weather turns too cold and wet.

In the meantime, I won't be getting Vibram Five Fingers Komodo Sport until February now, but might be able to blag some Bikilas in the short term. After all, I can't really talk people into spending over £100 on these shoes if all I own are the cheap Classics, can I?
